Job Introduction

Initialbay primarily operates two core businesses: the Solution Service, which offers system integration, network setup and other infrastructure development for public entities and private companies; and the NTT Service, which involves maintenance and management of utility-pole sites and underground structures under contracts with NTT EAST.
In the Solution Service, we tackle challenges collaboratively, with each team member fulfilling their role to resolve customers' issues and to provide safety, security, and convenience. For NTT Service, we offer agent services related to usage fees for utility-pole sites on private land, and we monitor and manage underground cables—critical equipment for NTT communication infrastructure—to protect them from damage caused by road construction and other incidents.
Below is an outline of our main operations in both the Solution Service and NTT Service, along with a brief introduction to the members involved.

  • K. K., Director of System Engineering Department, Solutions Headquarters
    Joined 2013

Every day, as a representative of Initialbay, I work to offer optimal solutions that satisfy our customers by collaborating with other internal departments, partner companies, and manufacturers to address their concerns and requests, ensuring to deliver high-quality construction and services.
I usually manage daily operations as the head of the SE Department. However, when customers face difficulties due to system failures or when urgent matters arise at the site, I personally respond on-site as a technical engineer, striving to resolve it quickly.
Although sudden, unexpected requests can be demanding, I find this position very rewarding when I solve problems and satisfy customers.

  • A. F., Manager of Data Center Facility Department, Solutions Headquarters
    Joined 2003

This department was newly established last year with the primary mission of supporting the installation of new or upgraded equipment at data centers that have been built nationwide recently. As a construction management engineer, I primarily work on-site to ensure smooth equipment setup.
Data center-related construction projects are typically large in scale and involve many challenges. For example, for some cases, coordination with numerous contractors is required; in others, I often need to deal with overseas clients who require construction methods tailored to international specifications that are uncommon in Japan. Nevertheless, I find great fulfillment in this work because I believe that this work benefits society and allows me to make full use of my capabilities—including the technical and negotiation skills I've developed over the years.
I work across a wide area—primarily the Kanto and Kansai regions—and of course the construction details vary by client. Therefore, I approach every project with go-for-it attitude.

  • Y. N., full-time employee, System Engineering Department, Solutions Headquarters

Every day, as a member of Initialbay's communications solutions team, I work to offer optimal equipment solutions that satisfy our customers by collaborating with other internal departments, partner companies, and manufacturers to address their daily concerns and requests, ensuring to deliver high-quality construction and services as my primary mission.
As the IT specialist in the SE Department, I usually handle a wide range of solution-related tasks across various internal departments. However, when customers face difficulties due to system failures or when urgent matters arise at the construction site, I myself also rush to the site to provide recovery measures and problem-solving support, striving to resolve it quickly.
Although sudden, unexpected requests and tight deadlines can be demanding, I find this position very important and rewarding when I see customers being happy, or when I receive words of gratitude or appreciation from those involved.

  • T. T., full-time employee, Data Center Facility Department, Solutions Headquarters
    Joined 2021

Hoping to acquire expertise and become an IT engineer, I moved from the service industry and this is my fourth year here.
Currently, I'm involved in designing and constructing data centers—the backbone of communication infrastructure. At first, I felt overwhelmed, but thanks to guidance from my senior colleague, I've now gained opportunities to take charge of design and construction tasks. Before joining the company, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to communicate effectively in the electrical and telecommunications field without any prior experience. Looking back, those concerns were completely unfounded.
Now, more than ever, I feel that a positive mindset is the most important thing in everything.
Many in my generation experienced the COVID-19 pandemic and faced difficulty finding jobs, so I'm really glad to be where I am now.

  • K. N., full-time employee, Field Management Department, Solutions Headquarters
    Joined 2021

I belong to the On-site Supervision Coordination Center of the Field Management Department, Solutions Headquarters. My primary role is to supervise on-site construction sites for NTT's external projects, aiming to prevent NTT EAST's underground structures (such as underground communication cables and manhole equipment) from being damaged by incidents caused by excavation work or similar activities.
This was a new field for me, and I was anxious at first. However, thanks to experienced instructors and thorough training, I developed the skills within about a year to a level where I could be entrusted with work by name and considered fully competent.
In today's society, where internet connectivity is ubiquitous, the societal impact of accidents involving communication equipment is particularly significant. Therefore, during on-site supervision, I always make sure to provide clear, site-specific instructions to help prevent construction companies from causing equipment accidents.
